Powermark battery life test for Windows 7 devices

We all heard of Futuremark, the software development company that produces computer benchmark applications for home users and businesses such as 3DMark and PCMark. Well, a while back, Futuremark expanded its product line with Powermark.

Powermark is a new battery life and power consumption test for Windows 7 notebooks, laptops, tablets and other battery powered devices. Powermark includes a set of standard tests based on productivity and entertainment use-case scenarios, as well as allowing custom settings for bespoke testing requirements.

Powermark Professional Edition commercial licenses start at $200 for 10 activations. However, at this time, Powermark is only available for business customers.

The program offers complete PC performance analysis for Windows 7. As you may know, PCMark 7 is available in three versions, including a free version that has a limited number of tests from the benchmarking suite. For those who want access to the all various workloads designed to show particular areas of system performance, the price of the Advanced Editon is $39.95 and and the Professional Edition for commercial use which is $995.

Probably the most important things in PCMark 7 against PCMark 6: it takes into account features such as hardware acceleration for transcoding video and solid state drives (SSDs), and uses real applications and games to generate a system score.

Futuremark announces PCMark 7

Futuremark, the developer of the world’s most popular benchmarking software, announced PCMark 7, a new benchmark offering complete PC performance analysis for Windows 7. PCMark 7 includes 7 separate test suites combining more than 20 individual workloads covering storage, computation, image and video manipulation, web browsing and gaming. However, a release date has not been announced yet.

PCMark 7 provides a set of 7 suites for measuring different aspects of PC performance with a high degree of accuracy. Overall system performance is measured by the PCMark Suite. The Lightweight Suite measures the capabilities of entry level systems and mobility platforms unable to run the full PCMark suite. Common use performance is measured by the Entertainment, Creativity and Productivity scenario suites. Component performance is measured by the Computation and Storage hardware suites. The Storage suite is ideal for testing SSDs and external hard drives in addition to the system drive.
