Assassin’s Creed III brings the player into the American Revolution

A lot of rumors surrounded the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but none of these pointed that you will be thrown into the American Revolution. Until February 29, 2012 when promotional image of the game was sent to Kotaku by a Best Buy employee. The image brought enough details to show that the game is set in North America during the American Revolution.

But now everything is official.

Assassin’s Creed III is the next major installment in the franchise, the result of almost three years of development. Surprisingly it is considered to be third title in the series, although it comes after Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. In order to bring light in this problem Jean-François Boivin of Ubisoft stated: “each numbered title in the series will introduce a new lead character and a new setting.” So, without any other debates, this is considered the official third title of the series.

In Assassin’s Creed III you will play as Connor Kenway, a new assassin who will fight for the liberty of his people and his nation in the American Revolution. To do so, you will hunt your enemies across a staggeringly large, open, and realistic world. You will unleash your lethal skills in a violent  quest that will take you from chaotic city streets to blood-soaked battlefields in the hostile American wilderness and beyond. You will meet legendary heroes  of American history, and together you will conspire to annihilate those who threaten Liberty itself.

Assassin’s Creed III comes with the all-new exclusively designed engine called Anvil Next. Thanks to this new breed engine the game will feature state of the art motion-capture, animation, and AI technology, which deliver more realistic character animations and interactions than ever before. For the first time in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed III comes with three natural cycles: dynamic weather, seasons, and time presence. These cycles will significantly affect the world around you.

Improved physics are taken a step forward. You can take down your enemies with tomahawks, pistols, and more. Use your instinctual tracking skills to learn what happened after an event, and shape your future actions accordingly. Experience the true scope of war as thousands engage in battle.

The only downside is that the PC version will have no keyboard and mouse support. Regarding this issue, Ubisoft Montreal Creative Director Alex Hutchinson stated:

“We’re definitely supporting PC, we love PC, but I think it’ll be PC with a controller. I don’t see us investing hugely in a mouse and keyboard setup. I think if you want to play on PC and you want to play Assassin’s Creed, you have a controller.”

The game will be available for XBOX 360, PS3 and PC on October 30 in North America.

Age of Empires Online

Two day ago Microsoft Studios released Age of Empires Online. Created as the next chapter in the best-selling Age of Empires PC game franchise, the game features two of the greatest ancient civilizations–the Greeks and Egyptians–and offers more than 40 hours of gameplay for free!

The game starts with your small village that needs to be built in order to face the challenges of a huge world. Your progress through the game depends on how you can manage to collect resources, build structures, arm your forces, and how will you develop new technology. If you can master all these you will be able to grow your civilization from a small village to a huge empire in order to conquer the world.

In the beginning there are some basic quests to go through that will teach new players the basics of this game. But as you will progress, the gameplay becomes more interesting because of the social side of it. You are free to chat with other players, trade with them and even send your armies to attack them.

Microsoft kept the RTS gameplay that made Age of Empires franchise so popular. The player has to build mighty empires, manage resources, earn rewards, and battle his way into rich new worlds full of lively villagers, epic warriors, and historically-themed architecture. It’s like the whole classic gameplay concept has been improved in order to deliver awesome moments in an online environment.

Most of the features are offered for free, but if you want to accelerate your expansion and become a respected ruler you can buy Premium Content Packs (not necessarily at a reasonable price) which include new civilizations, booster packs, new game modes and campaigns.
