Diablo III – The role playing game of the year

It’s been quite a while… I haven’t played a role playing game since my senior year of high school. That however, is really about to change. Diablo 3 is now available, and it’s available on a computer near you.

Diablo 3 is a role-playing game that takes place in the fantasy world of Sanctuary. You play through a hero – a barbarian, demon hunter, monk, witch doctor or wizard. Your character interacts with other characters and players and the goal, is nothing less than the saving of the world from the fiery demons of hell.

Your hero engages in fast-paced combat that tests your reflexes and rewards your tactical decisions. As you hack and slay your way through hordes of monsters, your character grows in experience and ability, learning new skills and acquiring items of wealth and power.

The game can take months and months to get through. You can play with teams or with just a single character. At some point, Blizzard Entertainment is going to implement a real money auction house so you can buy and sell items for dollars or euros, or the real world currency of your country of residence. You can even sell off your character’s possessions, take the money and move on if you wish.

Diablo 3 is by far, one of the most highly anticipated games of 2012. While I am truly not a gamer and don’t pretend to be one, this game and the graphics and video behind it have impressed even me. If you like fantasy role playing games even a little bit, you must give Diablo 3 serious consideration. Its perhaps one of the most impressive games I’ve seen in quite a while.

Diablo III – the hottest game of 2012 launched

We’ve been patiently waiting for Diablo III for as long as we can remember.  We were playing the beta and we watched online videos just to make time pass faster until we get to experience Diablo III in all it’s glory but now – we can play it! Well, sort of…

There are login issues and some people can’t login but I’m sure we’ll be able to play the game soon – all of us.

In Diablo III, players take on the role of one of five heroic characters — barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, or demon hunter — and engage in combat with endless legions of evil. In your journey, you will explore diverse and perilous settings, grow in experience and ability, acquire artifacts of incredible power, and meet key characters who’ll join them in battle or aid them in other ways.

Diablo III is available for Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 and Macintosh and you can buy it directly from Blizzard from the official website. If you’ve purchased a digital copy, you can begin downloading your client right now.

Diablo III Launching May 15

Great news, folks. Blizzard has finally announced officially their release date for Diablo III which is set for May 15.

“After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”

One of the most interesting things in Diablo III is the auction house – a place where the players can trade their hard-earned treasures. You’ll be able to buy and sell weapons, armor, and other valuable items in the auction house in exchange for in-game gold. Players will also have the option to receive real-world currency for auction house sales, which they can apply to their Battle.net Balance for the purchase of a variety of digital products through Battle.net, including Diablo III auction house items, or cash out through a third-party payment service such as PayPal in most regions.

Diablo III will be available for Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 and Macintosh at a suggested price of $59.99 USD for both the retail DVD-ROM version and the digital version sold directly from Blizzard.

Confirmed! Diablo III beta starting Q3 2011

After screenshots, more screenshots, videos and yes, even more, Diablo III beta might be just around the corner. A recent Activision-Blizzard investor call hinted that Diablo III might be ready for 2011.

Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime said that “the game does not have a launch date. We’re working very hard to try and release it this year, but we will not compromise on quality.” Mike also said that Diablo III beta will hit the third quarter of 2011.

Back in February, Vice President of Blizzard, Rob Pardo, also said the company’s goal is to get Diablo III out by the end of 2011, but that Blizzard will delay the game if needed in order to “get it right”.

As a response to Kotaku about whether Diablo 3 could come out this year, Rob Pardo said  that “we really, really hope so. That’s our goal. Our goal is to get there. But you know, at the end of the day, we are going to get it right. That’s more important.”

“We’re going to promise, we’re going to get it out there when it’s awesome. And, we’re crossing our fingers, maybe it will be this year.”

Well, let’s hope so!
