Completely remove sensitive data from HDD with Eraser

Security and privacy on your computer are everything. Sometimes you take it for granted but you can never be too safe when protecting sensitive information. That’s why it’s always best to permanently delete any information on your system that you may be concerned about, and that’s not as easy as right clicking and deleting, unfortunately. Deleting a file only removes the reference for it; you need to overwrite the file to ensure that it is gone forever.

Eraser 6.0.10 is a secure data removal program that allows you to permanently erase information with just a few clicks of the mouse. With a simple drag and drop function, you can completely eradicate a file. Eraser will overwrite the file and delete it permanently in a matter of seconds.

At the same time, you can schedule files to be overwritten, which is really the only part of Eraser 6.0.10 that could be considered difficult as getting familiar with the schedule function takes a little time to get around initially. However, once you have this down you can easily set up the program to delete from particular folders at appropriate intervals.

Eraser 6.0.10 is the latest version of the software so a few bugs have been seen to and the program runs extremely smooth now. For information security and peace of mind, Eraser 6.0.10 is highly recommended.

Keep your private information private with East-Tec Eraser 2012

You know, eBay and Craig’s List are wonderful things. You can find all kinds of bargains there, and can usually sell things you either want or need to get rid of rather quickly. There great around the Holiday’s for quick cash and gift purchases; and computers are usually high traffic items that trade hands quickly.  The bad thing about used computers though is that hard drives can often retain data, even if you’ve already erased it. This is why I like tools like East-Tec Eraser.  It’s a hard drive security tool for Windows.

Getting rid of data on your hard drive isn’t always easy, but with East-Tec Eraser you can completely destroy information stored without your knowledge or approval, like your Internet history, web pages and pictures from sites you visited on the Internet, any unwanted cookies, and your chatroom conversations.  You can even get rid of deleted e-mail messages and attachments, temporary files, the Windows swap file, and the contents of your Recycle Bin, etc.

If you have (or had) sensitive information on your computer, and want or need to get rid of it and the tracks it leaves behind, don’t worry. East-Tec Eraser 2012 meets and exceeds government and industry standards for the permanent erasure of digital information, as well as Russian and German security standards; and industry standards like the Bruce Schneier Algorithm or the Peter Gutmann Method.

Automate the task of deleting files and folders which you do in a regular basis

As a software editor, part of my job involves working with several files every day. Starting with the programs that I’m downloading in order to review and ending with programs’ screen-shoots (and other images) plus various files and folders. There is a folder for downloaded programs, a folder for screen-shoots and images and quite a few more folders for other purposes. However, from time to time I have to do some cleaning in all this folders. This is not necessarily a hard task but there is always something more important to do then this. Not long ago, luckily, I’ve found a program which does this cleaning for me – Autodelete.

Basically, this program automates the task of deleting files and folders. You can select any folder or file and specify a particular time after which they are going to be deleted. To me this is very handy. I don’t want to spend the time deleting old files or folders every month manually – Autodelete does is for me.

Delete confidential files permanently. Why? Because someone with a recovery software can easily restore deleted files. To permanently erase files and prevent confidential files getting into wrong hands, Microsoft offers a free command line utility – SDelete (Secure Delete) – this overwrites all the space occupied by the files you delete to prevent data recovery. This command line utility is part of the Sysinternals Suite.

P.S: files can be recovered even if you delete them with ‘Shift+Delete’ or you Empty the Recycle Bin, so yes… secure delete confidential files when there is a little chance that someone might recover them back 🙂
