Play all of your movies with ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5

There are a number of different kinds of media available today with a number of different formats – Blu-ray, DVD, different 3D formats, HD and SD video – the list goes on.  The biggest problem with all of this is that not every media player is created equally; and you may need more than one player app to handle all of the formats, until now.  If you’re a video junkie like me, then you need to check out ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5. It’s a complete video player for Windows.

With ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5, you get everything for a splendid graphical experience.  You can play Blu-ray 3D movies, DVDs, and native stereo 3D video.  With its Advanced SimHD module, DVDs and low-resolution videos, even YouTube videos, are played at near high-resolution quality, with dynamic lighting, denoising and smoothness.

ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5’s Parental Controls simplifies your ability to apply parental controls to your movie collections. You can restrict specific movie content by rating or choose to set a password.  You can also change Region Code.  However, you are only allowed to change the region code up to five times. After the maximum allowed limit has been reached, the region code locks.

Keep yourself organized with StickyNote

You see them all over the office…Stickies. Stuck to desktops, underneath keyboards, on the side of cabinets, hanging from overhangs, and of course, on computer monitors. They are literally everywhere, and the guy who invented the glue HAS to be like a bazillionaire (or at least should be).  The only problem that you bump into is the one thing that makes them so wonderful – they’re everywhere, and they can create a huge mess. This is why I like StickyNote from Tenebril Software. It’s a reminder program for Windows.

StickyNote 9.0 is a virtual notes program, and is the only program to offer photo-realistic, 3D notes that look just like stickies you leave on your monitor. Today, you have more information to remember than ever before – passwords, phone numbers, messages, ideas, just to name a few. Managing this information efficiently is important to staying organized. StickyNote provides an easy solution, both at home and at the office.

StickyNote creates photo-realistic 3D notes on your desktop. With a single click, you can attach notes to documents or programs. Important ideas or passwords will never be lost. You can pass notes instantly over the Internet or local network. You can easily make sure phone messages are delivered in the office without ever leaving your chair. The notes pop up right on the recipient’s computer screen.

You can set alarms, set notes to appear at specific times to remind you of important events, and can even set the notes to appear periodically. You can also synchronize your notes with Microsoft Outlook, your Palm handheld or other PDAs.

CyberLink PowerDirector 10 the World’s fastest consumer editing software

Video editing was never an easy job. Either the software is too expensive, or you just own an entry level PC which is over passed by the hardware requirements. Even if you meet all the requirements, your need some expertise in this field to obtain good results in video editing. CyberLink has released the latest PowerDirector edition, which seems to cover all your needs, giving a balanced solution between low hardware requirements and usability.

Based on a huge community, PowerDirector has been recognized the most popular video editing tool, and therefore has evolved from version to version in terms of functionality and performance. PowerDirector 10 confirms again to be the fastest video editing tool. This is the result of a revamped rendering engine that provides even faster and more efficient video production. The engine takes advantage of both hardware and software technologies to speed up video processing, harnessing system GPU power via OpenCL for incomparable effects rendering speed, while a brand new H.264 media encoder rapidly processes HD video. In addition PowerDirector 10 is the world’s first native 64-bit consumer video editor, enabling improved system efficiency and faster loading of HD video footage through parallel processing optimization.

Intelligent Smart Video Rendering Technology (SVRT) is a patented technology that analyzes an entire project to assess the types of media and formats used, then selects the best output profile for optimal production speed. Theoretically in this way users can produce better videos in less time. SVRT technology recognizes the portions of a movie clip that has been modified and only renders those portions during production and not the entire clip. But for an average user, this technology can become useless if he already knows what output suites his needs, or if the user is forced to use a specific output for his project.

CyberLink PowerDirector 10 is a good solution also for slow computers. Thanks to an enhanced H.264 software encoder, PowerDirector 10 is up to 38% faster than PowerDirector 9 at rendering 1080 HD video clips. This means that even if your PC doesn’t have the latest CPU/GPU hardware, rapid video rendering speeds are still within reach through software technology.

Being a comprehensive application, it’s not an easy job to deliver a user-friendly interface. On the surface CyberLink PowerDirector 10 looks nice, bringing the main features in front. But as you go deeply into his functions, the interface becomes overcrowded. You can use up to 100 track timelines that lets you create even the most sophisticated movie sequences with ease by allowing multiple layers of video, audio and objects to be controlled simultaneously. PowerDirector 10 introduces a host of exciting new features to make your video productions not only more impressive, but also easier to create.

One of these features that comes for the first time in a consumer editing software is the free-hand drawings that can be recorded and overlay on any video. In addition these drawings are time-distortable, so you can slow down or speed up the action anytime. The cinematic Time-Lapse technique makes its debut in PowerDirector 10 transforming any slow moving activity into a fluid motion. CyberLink TrueTheater module can upscales SD videos to HD-like content, sharpening images and removing video noise or even reducing shakes from your camera movement transforming your sequence into a smooth clip. The Beat Marker algorithm analyzes your soundtrack and places markers at major beat points so that you know exactly where to place your transitions and effects. But in case your audio track is a slower one, you won’t get any beat points at all. On the other hand, faster tracks will create too many beat points that are useless in the editing process.

The most notable feature brought by PowerDirector 10 is the 3D support. Whether from files or straight from 3D cameras/phones, PowerDirector can edit any type of 3D video file. Convert your 2D videos & photos to 3D with TrueTheater 3D module for an enhanced experience and burn them to any standard: 3D Blu-ray, 3D AVCHD or 3D DVD discs and watch it on 3DTV.

Following the social networking trend, with PowerDirector 10 you can upload videos and photo slideshows directly to a host of popular video websites including Facebook, YouTube, DailyMotion,  Vimeo and NicoNicoDouga. Add tags to your media, choose the video quality, and set your account info for instant upload. And with the YouTube Smart Upload feature, if your video’s more than 15 mins long, PowerDirector will automatically split it into different parts and create a YouTube playlist.

Get ready for HD video and 3D gaming with Adobe Flash Player 11 and Air 3

Just a few days back, Adobe announced Adobe Flash Player 11 and Adobe AIR 3 software to be released in the in early October.  The new browser plugin promises a platform that will bring up to 1000 times faster 2D/3D rendering performance over Flash Player 10, thanks to the new full hardware acceleration, plus full native 64-bit web-browser support. In addition to that – as presented by Adobe – the new platform will create the perfect environment for developers to build “console-like quality” games for Windows, Mac OS X  and Internet-enabled televisions. Also, Flash Player 11 will bring features such as HD video quality through the Web, in mobile apps, and even surround sound for connected TVs.

With this milestone release Adobe pushes the envelope of what is possible on the Web with a typical PC and opens up a new world of immersive, high-performance gaming experiences,” said Danny Winokur, vice president and general manager of Platform, Adobe.

For further details, take a look at this video…

Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 features:

Sony Introduces World’s First Digital Binoculars with HD video Recording

Sony will release the world’s first digital binoculars to record in AVCHD™ 2.0 format. The new models, DEV-3 and DEV-5, are ideal for nature/bird watching, they can record Full HD video with stereo sound at the touch of a button, and even add a 3D mode that records scenes as thrilling stereoscopic video footage for playback on most 3D HDTVs.

model DEV-3

Users can select the variable zoom on both models to scan a wide area at low magnification before zooming in seamlessly to pinpoint a subject. Turning on the digital zoom at magnification settings over 10x boosts the DEV-5 model’s total magnification range from 0.9x up to 20x digital (image quality is reduced when digital zoom is on and recording 2D video at magnifications higher than 10x), rivalling many high-powered conventional binoculars. The DEV-3 model pulls wildlife, sporting subjects and architectural details closer with a maximum magnification of 10x optical. In 3D mode, the binoculars’ maximum magnification is 5.4x optical.

model DEV-5

Unlike traditional binoculars, electronic autofocus keeps moving subjects sharply in focus at all times. A comfortably positioned dial allows fingertip adjustment of manual focus – ideal for focusing selectively on a subject, rather than overhanging branches or other obstructions in the field of view.

Separate images for left and right eyes are captured by a matched pair of precision G Lens optics by Sony with “Exmor R” CMOS sensors and powerful BIONZ® processors. Independent electronic viewfinders provide clear, detailed images for left and right eyes, offering a stereoscopic viewing experience that’s comfortable, natural and highly immersive.

The DEV-3 and DEV-5 digital binoculars feature Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization (Active mode), the optical stabilization system that’s found on Sony Handycam® camcorders and Cyber-shot® cameras. Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization helps keep images clear and stable, even when viewing at high magnifications. The binoculars can be connected via HDMI® to a Sony BRAVIA® HDTV or any HD television with HDMI input for viewing images (cable sold separately). 3D videos can be enjoyed on virtually any 3D-compatible TV, including Sony BRAVIA® models. There’s also a USB connection for transferring video clips to a PC for storing, editing and sharing.

The DEV-5 model includes an on-board GPS receiver that automatically geo-tags video clips and photos. Tagged images can be viewed after shooting in online maps (requires compatible software).

Both binocular models come with a high-capacity rechargeable battery pack (NP-FV70) that allows up to approximately three hours of 2D recording on a single charge. Remaining battery time (minutes) is displayed in the electronic viewfinder.

The new DEV-3 and DEV-5 digital recordable binoculars from Sony will be available in November 2011 for about $1400 and $2000.
