Blaze Audio RipEditBurn 2.3

This is the first application that I have tested because of some users who have expressed their sympathy for this product. From hundreds of same products, it was obvious this product wouldn't have step in front of me.

The product is a multitasking application which includes three main features: ripping (from different sources including old tapes, old vinyls, microphone, CD's), editing (waveditor with lot of effects) and burning (audio or data CD's).

Although the waveeditor part is not a professional one, it includes all the basic effects and mix options to manage an audio file. Remember, this application was not ment to be a studio editor. The authors of this product gave a big attention to some elements that are not included in other products:

- you can ripp CD's using the digital or analog method; the analog method will be used for copy protected CD's;

- before ripping any CD the application connects to Gracenote's CDDB2 data base, to get infromations about the CD (track name, album name, artist, etc);

- You can burn CD's in audio or data format;

- you can work with several audio files at the same time;

- by installation the application asks you if you want to install as a third party application the Mercora IMRadio. If you install it, the application will be integrated in the pop-down menu from where you can access it at any moment. Mercora is actually a search engine for free music. You can listen and copy music from users like you, who are at the same time broadcasting through the system their music. If you scan your audio files these will automatically be played by system online and any user can listen to them.


Pluses: good looking interface; different interfaces for all the three main features; link to the Mercora service; CDDB2 data base; the analog method of ripping; fast ripping process;

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: A complete application which eliminates the use of other products. In the end the users were right. This is a great product.
