 | | 'WinCatalog Light' is a free program that can help you catalog any files or folders. It can save information about CD/DVD, floppy, network, or RAM disks. Any folder of your hard disk can also be added to your electronic catalog. The program provides a very useful search function that allows you to find a needed file or folder from your disk collection quickly.
The main purpose of this software is to allow you to find files without having to insert any removable disk. You can choose to add the content of archives, information about MP3 files, and HTML descriptions to your catalog. It's possible to have more than one catalog. WinCatalog Light saves each catalog in a special file, allowing you to open it later.
Each item in your collection is displayed in a tree on the left side of the user interface. On the right, you can access a Windows Explorer-like interface, which displays details about each item (file size, date, attributes, and so on). The action performed by the program when you double-click a file can be customized. WinCatalog Light can display the properties of the clicked item or it can open it in Windows Explorer or any other application.
Pluses: WinCatalog Light supports retrieving Audio CD track names from the Internet.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: The program is well suited for home use. I indexed my entire CD and DVD collection without any problem.
