 | | I can't remember how many times I searched the Internet and found websites, which seemed to have the information I needed. However, they were written in a language I didn't understand and the translation tools available only work if you know what language you are translating from. Language Identifier should be able to recognize the language any text is written in. Its database includes 260 different languages and dialects.
There are two ways of working in this program. You can either paste text into the program or you can open a text file containing an unknown language. The text you input into the program must have at least 200 characters for the program to be able to identify correctly. However, I tried repeating a short sentence and the program correctly recognized the language used. Therefore, if you don't have any other option, you could try pasting the same text repeatedly in order to see what the program's output is.
I couldn't think of a better way to test the program than to search Google for foreign text and paste it into the program. I was astonished. The program was able to identify each language I tried.
Pluses: Language Identifier contains a module for recognizing each language. You can choose which modules you want to use for the identification process.
Drawbacks / flaws: The program is sometimes unstable. When I tried to remove some of the language identification modules, it displayed an error dialog.
In conclusion: With the help of this free program you should be able to identify almost any language.
