TextPipe Pro 8.3.7

TextPipe Pro should be able to provide fast text manipulation and data extraction. You can use it to perform multiple searches and replacements on a batch of files, search for duplicates, format source code and HTML and so on. Virtually every text operation can be accomplished with this software.

The application is a bit slower than other text editors in text searching and replacement operations. However, it does have the advantage of being able to process large files without locking the user interface. I compared the program with the open source Notepad++, on a 4 MB text file. I performed a simple search and replace operation using a regex expression. TextPipe Pro took 2 minutes and 29 seconds to finish the job. Notepad++ took 18 seconds to complete the replacement. It's true that Notepad++ was not responding during the replacement process, but this is a small price to pay for such a big improvement in speed. It's also true that when the regex expression is harder to match, TextPipe Pro closes in on Notepad++.

As I said, Regex expressions are supported. You can use them for matching text, as well as replacing it. Another thing that I found to be quite useful is the fact that you can add line numbers to text files. This came in pretty handy when I published a piece of source code on my website.

Pluses: The program has about 100 built-in filters which can help you edit any text file. You can also use this application to split and join files.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: TextPipe Pro is a professional solution for text manipulation. It's stable and quite easy to use.
