 | | Picture to Icon creates icons from images, areas of your desktop, and extracts icons from EXE, DLL and OCX files. This tool converts PNG, BMP, JPEG, GIF, CUR, WMF formats into all sizes of Windows icons. You can capture any part of your screen, and convert it into icon (ICO) or BMP file. You can resize icons from 1 x 1 pixel to a maximum of 240 x 240 pixels. The images you choose to create an icon from will be resized automatically, no matter what resolution they are. There you have many possibilities, because any picture can be transformed into an icon. If there is one area of your screen that you might want to save, you can use the built-in tool that does just that, by clicking and dragging it to the spot. A nice feature of this application is the color transparency. This means that, the color you pick with the eye dropper tool, will not show on your icon. With Picture to Icon it's possible to convert 256-color icons into true color.
Pluses: It supports color transparency.
Drawbacks / flaws: It has a poor interface and it doesn't offer many options.
In conclusion: This program can be fun, because you can customize your computer shortcuts the way you want.
