| | Artisan DivX/DVD Player is a free multimedia player, designed to support formats such as: DVD and DivX files, supports AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, MP3, JPEG, and GIF formats.
The has quite basic features, but in order to be a competitive player, there have to be made lots of improvements. The program plays a DVD immediately after inserting it into the optical drive, but beside the basic control and screen size, there are no option. You cannot manually add VOB files to the playlist or browse between chapters.
Pluses: The good thing is that you have a handy button for capturing screenshots.
Drawbacks / flaws: You cannot load subtitles for AVI/MPEG files; while in full-screen mode, you only have access to a right-click menu which allows you to control the player, capture file and screen size. I couldn't find any button for 'Options', so I couldn't set any video or audio preferences.
In conclusion: Quite poor and it contains adware from WhenU. The adware can be contained with the use of a firewall, since it tries to gain Internet access when the player starts.
