 | | Network File Monitor Pro can be used for data replication, backup, and synchronization on any network and even over the Internet. The program's user interface is very well designed, although it doesn't look amazing. Configuring the application is quite easy once you get the hang of things. However, I think that this software was designed for advanced users.
The program can be set to execute any number of tasks. Each defined task can be temporarily disabled or enabled, and, if needed, it can also be deleted. The tasks are organized into groups for easier access. The new task wizard is not very easy to understand, but you can click the 'Help' button in order to clarify matters. In my opinion, the help is well structured, so if you don't know what you are doing, it's best to read it.
When installing the program, it already has a couple of pre-configured tasks. These tasks can't be used as they are, and should be configured by you. Among these, the most useful for me are the 'Replication over FTP', 'Sending files by e-mail', 'Check free space', and 'Is server alive?'. If you don't find what you need through these basic tasks, you can add extensions for file compression, remote console execution, file encryption, hard disk S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, and so on.
Pluses: The application that actually runs the tasks can be configured to run as a standalone EXE or as a Windows service. Another feature that's worth mentioning is the fact that Network File Monitor Pro supports logging and reporting into HTML. If you run into any kind of trouble, you can go through the logs for finding out what the problem was.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: Network File Monitor Pro is a full-featured tool for file management. I liked this program right from the start due to its great features and stability.
