 | | This application is a superb utility for converting or compressing video files. Performance wise, this is one of the best programs I've tested. While encoding video, ImTOO MPEG Encoder is not a resource hog. CPU occupancy sometimes drops below 80 percent with an P 4 at 2,8 GHz. This doesn't mean that the encoding process takes more time. In fact, this program is one of the fastest video encoders I know.
I was curious to see how the program works. I opened the directory where the program is installed and I saw that the program uses many DLL (library) files. I guess that way it keeps a low memory usage, allowing you to keep working on your computer, even when the program is encoding.
There are two ways of processing video available to the user. The program installs two desktop icons, one for each mode. I personally like the wizard mode better, because it provides step-by-step options and it's easier to use. The wizard mode gives you access to the most important features. You can also use the program's advanced mode. The user interface is not very complex, so it's up to you to decide which mode you like best.
Pluses: The program supports many video formats as both source and output. It recognizes files, which use AVI, MPEG, FLV, DivX, WMV, MP4, MOV, RM, H.264, 3GP, PSP MPEG-4, iPod MPEG-4, CD, MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, M4A, APE, FLAC, OGG, 3GP, PSP, and iPod formats. Most of these formats can also be used when encoding video.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: The publisher did a great job with this software. ImTOO MPEG Encoder can preview, cut, convert, or re-compress videos easy and fast.
