 | | Free Medical Dictionary is a small piece of software you can use to find definitions of medical terms. The dictionary contains terms from various medical specialties, such as general medical terminology, pharmaceutical drugs, healthcare equipment, health conditions, medical devices, medical abbreviations, and so on.
When I first run the program, I was struck by the the interface: it instantly reminded me of programs running on Windows 95. Well, the interface is as simple as it can be. You can use it to search for items within it's database or you can perform Google searches. In case a term is not found in the dictionary, a list of similar terms will appear in order to help you.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: First of all, the user interface is completely out of fashion. There are a lot of missing features or options such as: selection of text, the 'copy' function, printing option and the list goes on. Besides, there's no way to add new terms to the database.
In conclusion: It may be free, but it needs immediate improvement in order to become a proper tool.
