 | | 'PlayNow' is a program that gives you access to a collection of online and offline games. Actually, the program is a special Internet browsing window. When you start the program, you can click the "Play Now!" button and choose which type of game you want to play. Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Atari, Master System, and Mega Drive games are available.
Then a list of games, which is ordered by category, is displayed in the application's main window. When you select a game, a preview picture is downloaded and shown. If you decide to play, the game is automatically downloaded to your computer. You only need to download the game once and then you can play it as many times as you want.
I had a lot of fun trying out the games. I mostly like Nintendo games, because they can be played in full screen. It was nice to remember the days when I played those old games on my TV. The program also displays small advertisements on the bottom of the window. As far as I can tell, these ads are harmless and they shouldn't bother you.
Pluses: You won't have to search the Internet to find games to play. PlayNow offers a simple, yet efficient game search feature. Another thing worth mentioning is that this software package contains a couple of game emulators (Nes, Genesis, Master, etc.).
Drawbacks / flaws: When I try to open certain games, the application displays a weird error message ("Internet Explorer cannot download. Unspecified error"). However, after I click OK, I can play the game. My computer has Internet Explorer 7 installed.
In conclusion: This program offers an alternative to searching the Internet for free games. The number of games featured in this program is quite impressive.
