 | | Icons from File is a free utility that allows you to extract icons from folders and files. It actually scans folders for EXE, DLL and OCX files that contain icons. Once found, you can click on each file and this utility will reveal the icons inside that file.
This application is very easy to use. All you have to do is just open the program and press the “Find files with icons inside” button. An explorer window will appear that will allow you to browse folders on your disks or network, in search of icons. You have the option of saving all icons or just one selected icon as an ico, bmp, jpg or emf file to a specified folder, or even to an html, htm document or dBase file (dbf).
The maximum resolution of the saved icon is 32x32 pixels, no matter what format you choose. You can also copy one selected icon to a text editor if you want to, or just print it on paper.
Pluses: It's free.
Drawbacks / flaws: You cannot save icons larger than 32x32 pixels, and there are few options available.
In conclusion: A nice application, if you are satisfied with all the limitations it has.
