 | | SmartFTP is another nifty program that allows you to transfer files using the FTP, FTPS, SFTP over SSH protocols. The program features a nice looking, easy to use interface. It supports multiple connections, displaying them as tabs in the main window.
You can save your FTP connection in the list of favorites. It's also possible to set up the application so it automatically downloads files from the FTP server, allowing you to edit and upload them later. SmartFTP also supports changing remote folders' permissions (CHMOD), drag and drop operations, and directory caching.
Depending on your server version, SmartFTP allows you to send FTP commands. Another thing that caught my eye is the fact that you can specify the number of simultaneous threads that are used for transferring files and the maximum transfer rate.
Pluses: The program supports queuing files for later download or upload. It's also possible to pause or cancel file transfers. However, the nicest thing about SmartFTP is its reliability. The user interface never stopped responding, something I can't say about similar software that I've tested lately. Another pluses are the command line options and the URL watcher.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: This application is a great solution for managing files on a remote FTP server. As far as I've tested it, it's fast and reliable, so it's definitely worth a try.
