This program is a simple tool for tracking and managing your projects. The 'Personal' version supports only one user, but it has the advantage of being free. There are also shareware versions of this software (
Advanced Time Reports Professional and
Advanced Time Reports Premier), which have improved functionality and support multiple users. Advanced Time Reports Personal can be used to store information about the time you spend on each of your tasks. In fact, these tasks are called "projects" inside the program's user interface.
You can define "projects" by entering certain details about them. The estimated duration of the project (in hours) should be entered, along with the project's name, start date, and end date. It's also possible to specify a description for each project you define. The projects can be added to your timesheet (time card). Originally developed so that an employer could determine payroll, timesheets are now used to display the time you spent on each individual project. The timesheets are displayed inside the application's main window, allowing you to add, view, or modify their entries.
The application allows you to select a certain date. Then the timesheet that corresponds to the selected date is automatically shown. Advanced Time Reports Personal allows you to search through each timesheet. I don't find this very useful, because I never work on 20 projects a day and 20 projects can fit easily inside the timesheet displayed by the application, even if your screen resolution is 800x600.
Pluses: Advanced Time Reports Personal supports printing. It also supports synchronizing your projects' data with your PDA.
