| | ZipGenius is an compression and decompression utility with a lot of features. It can decompress 21 different formats, and it can compress using 4 different techniques: ZIP, CAB, TAR, or SQX. The program integrates itself into the Windows shell, so you have easy access to its functions.
The software performs quite well when compressing. However, I think that if you like to compress your files as much as possible, ZIP compression is not the best choice. ZipGenius's features are better than most other archive management tools. If you have pictures inside your archives you can view their thumbnails. Also, you can test, split, or send any archive by email.
You can view miscellaneous information about the current archive, including its MD5 sum, compression ratio, and comments. If you want to better identify the archives you create, you can sign them. The signature can contain your name, email address, your homepage URL, and a picture.
Other useful features and functions include searching into archives, encryption, and a tool for making picture slideshows. The user can also backup any folder very easily, just by using the "Backup" menu of the program. Backing up your important documents is very fast, because the program can automatically add the date and time when the backup archive was created.
Pluses: ZipGenius is flexible and easy to use, providing easy access to all the functionality required by a compression/decompression software.
Drawbacks / flaws: When I tried to repair a ZIP archive which I created, the program stopped responding for a couple of seconds. The slideshow editor also didn't work for me.
