 | | PRTG Traffic Grapher is a handy network tool designed to help you monitor in real time the traffic over of networked computers or servers while providing the possibility of diagnosing the systems. You can choose to use the freeware version which is limited to only three devices/sensors or you can use the commercial version which allows you to monitor all the devices you want to.
After the installation, you need to create the monitoring sensors: select the data acquisition technology (SNMP - Simple Network Management Protocol, Packet Sniffing, Netflow Collector or Latency Monitoring), select the device/server and scan it for available sensors and select a group of sensors to be monitored.
The program will record and display accurate information regarding the traffic (connections, traffic volume, protocols) over intervals of hours, days and so on. The program can generate printable reports. These report can be sent via email to you address in case you need a 27/7 update. Only a few of the options have been described here. It is best to read the documentation in order to discover the program's full potential. All data and configuration settings will be displayed in your default web browser.
