| | The Australian Nod32 antivirus is an integrated security suite created to safeguard your machine from viruses, worms, trojans and other harmful programs. Components include: AMON - File system monitor, DMON - MS Office document monitor, MS Outlook email monitor, IMON - Internet monitor and manual scanner. The ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System protects you from adware, spyware and other risk applications.ThreatSense scanning options include, besides virus definitions, heuristic and advanced heuristic scans for improved security. Configuring all these components is not quite a walk in the park for a beginner, but advanced users might find them interesting an useful. The IMON module includes POP3 protocol email checking as well as HTTP checking. A compatibility setup helps you adjust the compatibility level of HTTP clients and servers.
Pluses: You can create individual user profiles and set custom protection levels and protect the profiles with passwords. During the installation process I ignored the warning saying that i should uninstall any other antivirus program, so, although I had already installed Panda Titanium and Zone Alarm, I installed Nod32 without uninstalling the former antivirus programs and I detected no conflicts between the three. The system used: Intel P4 3GHz, 1GB DDRAM, 128 MB ATI Radeon 9250 running Windows XP SP2.
Drawbacks / flaws: However, Nod32 seems to be a little bit expensive compared to other antivirus software such as Norton Antivirus or Panda Antivirus.
In conclusion: A good security solution which goes easy on your resources and provides quality protection.
