 | | Absolute Time Corrector (ATC) synchronizes your time settings by comparing it to several atomic clocks (timeservers) on the Internet. The program is configured by default to synchronize your clock every hour, but you can configure this setting. It's possible to decide whether you want to do a hour correction, or a simple minutes and seconds correction. As you might know, the difference between timezones is always a multiple of 1 hour, so this option can come in handy if you didn't set the correct timezone for your location.
Another useful feature of this software is its ability to synchronize the time and then exit. This ensures that the program doesn't use your computer's resources by staying in the background, while at the same time keeping your clock synchronized. My tip for you is to configure a new task (from Scheduled Tasks in Control Panel) which runs the program periodically.
This application is able to synchronize the time using SNTP (based on the UDP protocol) or TIME (based on the TCP protocol) servers. It's even possible to configure the program to act as a LAN TIME server, in order to use it for local synchronization between the computers on your network.
Pluses: ATC can play a different sound file when it starts/ends querying a timeserver, when it corrects the time, or when the synch ends with an error. This is a nice way of getting an audio confirmation that everything is fine with the time on your computer. Command line synchronization is supported.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: This program is designed for people who really care about the time setting on their computer, or on the computers from their network. If you consider that it's worth paying a few dollars to keep your system time synchronized, ATC does an excellent job.
version reviewed: 6.8 Absolute Time Corrector Publisher's Description Absolute Time Corrector (ATC) queries NIST timeservers using the Internet and then compares NIST time to the time setting of the host computer. If there is a disparity, ATC automatically adjusts the computer's time to reflect NIST time. Once set up the host computer can serve as a timeserver to any size network. System Requirements 16 MB RAM, TCP/IP What's new The monitoring system of the server's state was improved. Some small improvements. | | | | Download Absolute Time Corrector | Screenshots
