 | | WeatherAloud is a software that will turn your computer into a weather forecaster. This program should be able to display information about the temperature, wind speed, humidity, pressure, visibility, and much more. It boasts of being able to receive this kind of information from 7500 locations worldwide.
You can set the program to display information using standard or metric system. The most important feature of the program is that it's able to speak. It does this by using a speech engine. Any information available in the user interface can be read aloud using the computer's voice. You can choose which voice you want to use. The program can also generate audio files containing information about the weather.
The locations that are important to you can be saved in a list. The current temperature at you default location will always be visible in you computer's system tray.
Pluses: Accessing a location is very easy. First, you select the continent, then the country, and then the location, if you're lucky to find it.
Drawbacks / flaws: The forecast panel looks weird when accessing some cities. It contains HTML tags that in my opinion shouldn't be there. I didn't understand the text displayed in this panel when selecting those cities.
In conclusion: It's nice to remember that computers can speak. However, computers are still a long way from replacing the weather forecasters we see on TV. This program takes a good first step towards that goal.
