| | Smart Protector is a small application designed to protect your privacy. Regardless of the fact that you are spending time browsing the Internet or working offline, the program takes care of the traces left all over your system.
The program clears all the temporary files stored on your system such as index.dat, recent files, Windows Temp folder, or Windows Search History. The program will also look into your installed Web browsers and clean up data stored in cookies, history, Temporary Internet Files, and homepage. Besides all this, the program will also remove the files in the Recycle Bin and the auto-complete data for the forms.
The interface is simple and nicely designed so that you can clean your traces in an instant. You choose which files you want erased and then simply click 'Erase'. You can also perform a test in order to get a glimpse of the files you are about to erase.
Pluses: A very nice feature which I noticed is the fact that before using a computer, you can save the state in which you found it. This means that the program will create a backup of all the temporary files already on the system. If something goes wrong after you finished cleaning the files, you can erase your traces and restore the system to the state previous to the cleaning process.
I found this feature extremely useful in case you are not using your own machine and you want to keep your activity concealed from curios eyes.
Drawbacks / flaws: You can't manage settings for multiple browsers, only for Internet Explorer.
In conclusion: An extremely useful program for those concerned with their online and offline privacy.
