Virtual Switcher can help you manage your computer's network connections and printers. It allows you to create multiple profiles. Each profile has associated network settings, as well as a default printer.
When starting the program for the first time, it asks you whether you want to capture your current network card settings and save them as a default profile. Each profile uses a different color in the program's main window. Several tabs are displayed for each profile, allowing you to configure the profile.
A nice feature enables you to define multiple network drive mappings. However, when selecting to map a network drive, you must enter the remote computer's name and shared resources by hand. Unfortunately, it's possible to associate more than one network shared drive to a local drive. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that you can use Virtual Switcher to apply different settings to Putty (SSH client) for each profile.
Pluses: The application supports executing an external batch file or program after activating a profile.
Drawbacks / flaws: Sometimes the program displays error messages. For example, when I try to change the color of a profile, I receive a 'List index out of bounds' error although the color is successfully changed.
In conclusion: Virtual Switcher is a nice utility for people who regularly use more than one network on their notebook or desktop computer.
