This program is a converter from bitmap or jpeg to ASCII format, but it can also convert text into a nice looking ASCII representation. Cool ASCII comes with several templates which represent humans, animals, cartoons, and so on.
The user interface is rather simple. The most important features are accessible through links displayed on the left side. The 'Image to Html' allows you to import an image for creating its ASCII representation. A full web page is generated by the program. I have to say that the HTML page looks very nice and is compatible with the most important Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Opera).
The 'Art Character' feature is in my opinion the nicest thing about Cool ASCII. You can use it to convert any text you like into a very nice looking (and bigger) ASCII sequence of chars. There are 6 types of character representations that can be used when converting text.
Pluses: Drawbacks / flaws: The program only supports importing BMP images. JPG, PNG, and other popular formats are not supported.
In conclusion: As this is a shareware application, I would have expected more. I suggest you also try another (free)program called
ASCII Art Maker before and if you decide to buy.
