Search My Network 1.23

Search My Network is a utility which would help you find files on your Local Area Network. You should have installed Microsoft .NET framework 1.1 for the program to work.

I believe that this program is addressed to experienced users or computer literates. I say this, because there are lots of search options and criteria and very little help. Actually, the program has no help section. The are question marks next to items; clicking on those question marks will open small tip (help) windows. Besides this, theres the support forum in case you visit the producer's website.

Now, let's have a look at the program: you can use the program to perform exhaustive searches of files or folders, shares, computers, domains and printers on your entire network. In order to find exactly what you are looking for, you can choose your criteria and apply several filters. You have a time filter, a size filter, a content filter. You can choose to search computers on a workgroup on matching a single or an entire IP range. You can skip items or computers in order to shorten the search time.

You can have an Explorer-like view of the network and you can have access to report containing your search results. A report will contain the name of the files/folders, the path, size, type, description and so on. The nice thing is that you can perform a variety of operations using the context menu: you can open, copy, move, delete, view properties and many more.

Pluses: You can search by file masks; you can schedule searches. You can search within the report for desired items. Search parameters can be saved. The reports can be exported as web pages, text files, MS Excel spreadsheets or multimedia URL lists.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: Although it may appear difficult at a first look, it's functionalities are amazing. It's an excellent program.
