Shred It 1.02

Shred It is a data wipe out application. The name suggests that if you use this program to delete files and folders is as shredding documents with a shredding machine: no one will be able to recover them.

In order to shred files, you need to add them to a list, so that you can use the program to manage them. You can drag-and-drop files from Windows Explorer or add to the list by using the Explorer context menu integration feature. This makes the program very easy to use and will save you a lot of time.

Shredding the files can be done using four different shredding methods: basic, simple, secure and military shredding. The last one is to be used if you want your data gone for good. However, you need to pay a lot of attention, because once you've deleted it, your data will be erased beyond recovery. You can save reports containing info related to the performed operations. You can password protect the program in order to prevent unauthorized shredding of your files.

Pluses:

Drawbacks / flaws: A scheduler would have been nice for shredding automation, especially when you are working with sensitive data on a daily basis. Besides, there's no mentioning of the wiping algorithms, so you need to trust the 'most powerful wiping method'.

In conclusion: This one appears to be an average data eraser. Not so advanced, recommended for beginners.
