| | Power Monitor Off is a very simple application that allows you to turn your computer's monitor off. The program is a standalone executable, that can only turn off your monitor, without being able to perform any other task.
The application does not feature a user interface. Right after you start it, your monitor goes into standby mode. You can resume your work, by moving the mouse or by pressing a key, just like you would when you turn your computer on from standby mode.
In the Windows Control Panel, the Power Options allow you to customize the elapsed time before your monitor automatically turns off. However, if, for any reason, you need to turn of your monitor right away, Power Monitor Off comes in handy.
Pluses: I wasn't sure whether this is a plus or a drawback, so here goes. When testing the program, I turned my monitor off about 50 times. The publisher states that this is only an evaluation version, and it should only work 30 times. Well, it worked for me more than 30 times without any limitation.
Drawbacks / flaws: The publisher also states that you should be able to configure a shortcut key. Unfortunately there's no user interface, so it's impossible to set a shortcut unless you modify the properties of the desktop shortcut from your desktop.
