 | | MACMask is a simple to use application that allows you to change the hardware (MAC) address of any network card, physically attached to your computer. The program is quite simple, but its interface looks very nice. This enables the user to learn how to use the application without any hassle.
If you’re behind a network that requires you to register devices by their MAC address, you can change your local MAC to register the device, then restore your original. I’ve personally used this to register a wireless router in a matter of seconds. Also, many ISPs (Internet Service Providers) use the MAC address of your network card to register and track your computer on their network. With this kind of ISP, if you need to change your network card, you have two options. You can either change the MAC of your new card to match the old one, or you can contact the ISP.
If you are unsure whether the program changed your MAC, you can always check it by typing "ipconfig /all" or "getmac" in the command line (in Windows XP). The program also allows you to enable or disable any network adapter.
Pluses: The application is able to scan your network, showing all the computers which are connected. Their IP address, hostname, MAC address, and vendor are shown in a list.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: Before you decide to buy, you should know that the MAC address can be changed directly from your network card's configuration dialog. However, if you are not an experienced user, you could try MACMask. It's easier.
