Arkanoid Space Ball is a nice arcade game which uses the idea behind the Arkanoid game.
Arkanoid is a quite old game. Basically, the whole game play is based on a paddle which prevents a ball from getting out the playing field. The ball has to destroy all the blocks from a certain level in order to pass it. Some of the destroyed blocks provide upgrades to the paddle or to the ball, or they provide other specific bonuses.
Arkanoid Space Ball does almost the same thing. It provides good looking graphics and an improved gameplay. While you collect upgrades, you may also collect downgrades which you must avoid. You also must avoid all kinds of flying things, called "monsters", which can stun you for a moment, or they can destroy your paddle.
The game is pretty addictive, even though sometimes it can become annoying because of the fact that the control is exclusively done by the mouse. This isn't very accurate the whole time as the Mac OS X has a weird way of interpreting the mouse movement.
The trial mode of this game is time limited. It doesn't work on a level limitation or a certain number of days. You need to use the game at its potential during this trial phase in order to decide if this games worths or not its license fee.
Pluses: it improves the game-play of the old Arkanoid game, it has good looking graphics.
Drawbacks / flaws: the control of the paddle might be annoying sometimes.
In conclusion: this game is a good implementation of the idea behind Arkanoid.
