 | | I was curious to find out what a 3D picture viewer is, so I downloaded an tried PixGal3d. The installer asked me to install the .NET Framework 3.0 package before installing the application. In fact, it automatically downloaded and installed the framework, without me having to worry about it. My first impression about PixGal3d was great, because I like the user interface.
Even though PixGal3d uses some fancy effects, it's still a simple picture viewer. The right side is used for displaying a folder explorer, while the image thumbnails are displayed on the right. When you click an image, it's displayed in the program's window on what seems to be a different surface. This surface appears to be on top of the thumbnails and folders. I guess that's why this program is advertised to be a 3D picture viewer.
The pictures that you choose to view can be rotated or zoomed by using your mouse and keyboard. It's a good idea to take a look at the possible key combinations from the help file. I guess it's worth mentioning that the mouse wheel and the middle click are used by the program.
Pluses: There are 5 visual effects that can be applied to your pictures when displaying them. The magnitude and interval of each effect can be adjusted by using two sliders.
Drawbacks / flaws: I don't like that the background fades to black when I move the mouse over the current picture.
In conclusion: Although this program should be a bit more customizable, it's a very nice looking picture viewer.
