 | | Clear History is a small utility which can help you get rid of temporary or unnecessary files stored by web browsers or other installed applications.
The program can be placed in the 'Startup' section in order to run smoothly in the background. The scheduler allows you to automate the tasks: you can choose to cleanup the system when the Windows starts, is shut down or when the browser is closed. The user interface is nicely designed and makes the program easy to use. The program includes a 'Startup Manager' which you can use to control the programs that start with Windows.
You can use the program to clean all temporary files, including passwords and cookies stored by Internet Explorer and Firefox. You can delete Windows recently used files, MS Office recently used files, and 'Winzip', 'WinRar', 'Windows Media Player', 'WordPad' recent files. besides the normal cleaning feature, the program can erase files beyond recovery using the DoD (U.S. Department of Defense) 5220 - 22 M three pass algorithm.
Apart from deleting recent files, you can perform full scans of all your hard drives. There's a list containing a list of extensions of the files you consider to be junk. The list can be edited in order to perform a complete sweep of your system. Files can be normally deleted, erased, moved to the Recycle Bin or moved to a folder of your choice.
You need to careful when erasing files using the DOD algorithm because they will be lost beyond recovery.
