 | | When I first downloaded this software, I found myself wondering why the words "smart HD monitoring" are found in its description. Well, HDD Observer really proved itself to be smart. A lot of features make this software a great tool for diagnosing hard drives and even fixing Windows registry issues.
The diagnostics are displayed by using the S.M.A.R.T. capabilities of your hard drives. Information about the total work time, the date your drive was last checked, and its temperature are all displayed on the status page of each drive. Several gauges also indicate the performance, the health, the free space, and the fragmentation of each drive or disk. It's also worth mentioning that the program can be set to display a tray icon which indicates your hard disk activity.
HDD Observer supports alerting the user when certain criteria are met. For example, you could set the program to alert you whenever free space drops below a critical amount or when the health of your drive is questionable. Four other tools are built into the program. These tools (Disk Cleaner, Disk Defragmenter, Registry Cleaner, Registry Defragmenter) help you keep both your hard drives and your Windows operating system in tip top shape.
Pluses: The defragmentation process is very efficient and it's not very time consuming. It took just about 10 minutes to defragment my boot partition. Initially, the fragmentation percentage was 49. After the disk defragmentation was complete I noticed an improvement in the speed of my system.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: I like this software very much, so i think I'll keep it.
