| | CarbonFolder can help you synchronize data in different folders from your computer or from your local network. The program uses a step by step wizard interface to enable you to perform the synchronization. Learning to use this program is easy, so I didn't need any help from the documentation.
The application can save a certain task in order to allow you to perform it again later. Each task is saved as a "project", which can be opened easily from the user interface.
Each new project is defined in a 5 to 7 step process, depending on the options you choose. A very simple synchronization of two folders can be accomplished just by selecting the folders. CarbonFolder takes into account the time when a file was last modified. Older, similar files get overwritten by newer files without any prompt. All the operations (copy, delete, etc.) are logged in the final step and can be saved for later viewing.
Pluses: CarbonFolder is absolutely free. However, at the last step you are encouraged to try another application, which can automate the synchronization tasks.
Drawbacks / flaws: I would have liked to be able to individually select which files to overwrite during synchronization. It's possible to select a file mask for including/excluding certain files, but this is not always enough.
In conclusion: CarbonFolder is a free synchronization utility, which is worth a try. It's simplicity and ease of use are outstanding.
