dupeGuru Picture Edition is a file utility that allows you to search and delete the duplicate image files that you have on your hard drive.
The application works in a very simple way. Basically, all you need to do for starters, is to select the directories that should be scanned and click the 'Start Scanning' button. The application can find all the duplicate images. After the search and compare process is finished, dupeGuru displays a report of all founded files.
With the report list you can do various actions such as moving, deleting or copying the duplicate files, or you can do tasks like opening the files with a selected application.
The 'Preferences' panel is very simple and it has just a few options. If you're looking for more functionality, then you can find it into the application menus. Those menus hide a lot more functionality than the interface which is pretty simple and intuitive.
The speed of the application depends on the size of the scanned folder or folders. For example it is highly not recommended to add the root directory of the Mac OS X file system, because an action like this works very slowly, and it has a major impact on the Mac's performance.
Pluses:it is quite easy to use, while it provides advanced functionality in the application's menus, it can find the duplicate files even though they were renamed.
Drawbacks / flaws:quite slow in certain cases.
In conclusion: a pretty good application that can help you to cleanup your drive/drives.
