 | | SyvirMon FREE System Monitor is the free version of SyvirMon Standard Edition. The main difference between the two version is the fact that the 'Standard Edition' has a feature called '3D virtual reality' - a real-time simulation of the motherboard and hard drive which will be live represented as if you opened the computer case.
After installation, 'SyvirMon FREE' will run in the background and will place an icon in the system tray. The program will monitor your computer continuously: you will be able to view the CPU load, the disk space (disks capacity, free space), details related to the physical and virtual memory and, of course Internet related data (data sent and received).
The thing that struck me from the very beginning was to obvious resemblance to the Windows Task Manager. The difference is that the Task Manager provides more information than this program, such as running processes and applications, connected users, etc.
The program's intercase is indeed very nicely designed and appealing, but in terms of complexity, this program provides less information that the Windows Task Manager.
You can set thresholds for processor usage, physical memory usage, disk space and virtual memory usage. If readings go beyond these thresholds, alerts can be sent so that you can take measures. What's confusing is the fact that you never know whether these thresholds are upper limits or lower limits. For example, I set the program to trigger an alert when the disk space reaches 5%: when it's occupied more or less than 5%?
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: There's no help section, and configuring the program may be a bit confusing.
In conclusion: In my opinion, I wouldn't buy a system utility which is already included in the operating system.
