 | | Paintbrush is a Cocoa-based paint program for Mac OS X.
Since Mac OS X doesn’t have any paint program like Microsoft Paint, paintbrush may be the answer.
Paintbrush brings the Microsoft Paint functionality into Mac OS X. The first thing that appears when you open it is a dimension worksheet. You can chose between the default presets or customize your own.
There are a few differences between Microsoft Paint and Paintbrush like the "bomb" option that erases everything you did on the worksheet. And the supported files extensions are: 'png', 'jpeg', 'gif', 'bmp' and 'tiff'. The default file format when you save a file is 'png'. Also you have some image flipping options, horizontally and vertically. The possibility to paste an image from clipboard, or drag and drop it, isn't a Paintbrush feature.
The font editor can be a little tricky, the options aren't like in Paint, you will find them in the application menu under the name tools. In my tests I tried the keyboard shortcuts for zoom in\out, and it didn't work as it should. A "check for updates on startup" kept coming instead of zooming. For zooming you will have to use the mouse.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: the possibility to paste, or paste from clipboard images isn't a Paintbrush feature.
In conclusion: finally for those who were used to recreate themselves with 'Microsoft Paint' can do that on Mac OS X too. Easy to use, and fun to create paint pictures with Paintbrush. A very good paint program which imitates 'Microsoft Paint' for Mac OS X.
