eBooksWriter LITE is an extremely useful program designed for the creation of e-books: documentation, novels, short stories, essays, children's books, you name it.

The first impression was that this is just another word processor, but after I took a better look at it's features, I have to admit that it's a lot more than that. Of course, you can write and format text just the same as using a usual word processor, only there's more to it: you can create eBooks containing mouse over sensitive image, forms,hot spots, pop-up windows, hyperlinked pages with frames. You can insert voice and music (MP3, WAV, MID file formats) and videos or animations (MPEG, MOV, AVI, etc.). In order to use a spell-checker, you need to install the Microsoft spell-check engine or a use a free dictionary.

You can export files to RTF and ASCII and import text from RTF, HTML, ASCII, xText Hypertext and DOC files with the options of converting to GIF all imported images, choosing the maximum number of paragraphs per page, customizing the background, etc.

The eBooks can be saved as self extracting stand-alone archive with an EXE extension. You can add covers, content index and lots of other options. What I consider to bee cool about the eBooks is the fact that each has its in-built search engine and browser. The protection of eBooks is provided by the password option, the option of prohibiting print or clipboard copy and the option of setting an expiration date.

In conclusion: Athough this 'LITE' version has some limitations, I enjoyed a lot testing it. Excellent!
