| | RecoveryFix for Outlook Express scans for corrupted mailbox files. As you may know, Outlook saves its emails using DBX files. This e-mail client creates a separate file for each folder it has (ex: Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, etc.). Any of these files can be opened by RecoveryFix, in an attempt to recover deleted e-mails.
As with all recovery software, this application won't always be able to recover deleted e-mails. The recovery success depends on a lot of factors. I noticed that if you choose to "Compact" a folder before trying to recover data, you won't be able to recover anything. However, if you didn't do this, chances are you'll be able to use RecoveryFix to recover all your deleted e-mails.
First thing you need to do when starting this program is select a DBX file. In the next step, all your deleted e-mails are listed along with existing messages. The deleted messages are displayed using red color, in order to highlight them. Each item in this list has a corresponding checkbox which can be selected when choosing the messages you want to recover.
Pluses: You can save the recovered emails both as a DBX file, or as individual EML (e-mail) files.
Drawbacks / flaws: It would have been nice if the program could automatically detect the path to the Outlook Express storage folder.
In conclusion: This software allows you to recover deleted e-mails in a simple three-step process.
