| | 'Hyplay' is a free movie player, which is compatible with many types of video files. It is not compatible with XVID compressed movies. The program features skin and plugin support. When I wrote this review, the download pages for skins and plugins didn't work. I try to download extra skins, but the program showed me a message about Hyplay's website being redesigned. The main goal of Hyplay is to improve the user experience while playing video files. It does that by offering a good-looking video control panel. This panel appears inside a window with black background. I was disappointed to see that these controls cannot be moved outside this window. This program left me with the impression that it's still under development. There is a subtitles button on the video control panel. Well, this button does... nothing. Pluses: Drawbacks / flaws: The news section of the publisher's website was last updated on 05/18/2005. I don't trust publishers that don't update their website. Because Hyplay is free, I'm sure that nobody offers support for this product anymore. In conclusion: I have seen better free software. I will stick to VideoLAN Client for playing my movies. version reviewed: 1.2.0326.1
