| | 'Ultra Document to Text Converter', as shown in the title, helps you convert into text a large variety of document file types such as PDF (Adobe Portable Document Format), RTF, DOC, PPT (MS PowerPoint presentations), HTM, HTML, MHT, and XML (MS Excel 2003 spreadsheets).
The program is very easy to use. After you add files to a list, you just hit 'Convert'. The best thing is that you can batch convert files. Another good thing is that you can drag-and-drop files to a list to be converted. You don't even need to have Adobe or MS office installed, because the program is also available as a stand-alone ActiveX component.
However, you need to pay attention to the files that contain text embedded in images, because the program will create empty documents. Sometimes documents such as XLS, PPT, or DOC created using OpenOffice may not even be converted and all you get is a blank text document.
Pluses: It has command line mode. It supports batch conversion and drag-and-drop.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: The trial version, allowed me to convert only the first two pages of any document, but the program's overall performance exactly what I've been looking for.
