 | | Kate's Video Cutter is an extremely easy to use and simple video editor. It actually allows you to cut pieces out of a video file and save them as stand-alone excerpts or to convert them to different video formats. At least, that what the program is supposed to do.
Let's take it step by step. First, you need to add a video input file: AVI, WMV, ASF, MP4, etc. Then, you can choose your output format; here you can choose between AVI, MPEG, WMV, QuickTime, DVD, VCD or SVCD. Advanced users can also choose the favorite video and audio compressors and resize the output file.
As a last step, you can choose the start and ending time of your output video file and hit the 'Cut' button. There is also a preview section which is supposed to allow you to preview the input file in the internal or an external player. Unfortunately, this feature isn't working with some AVI files.
Actually, most of the cutting processes came out with an unsatisfactory result. No matter what the input file were, the output came out as a file with sound but no image. For example, when attempting to play the output files with Windows Media Player, a warning popped-up saying that the content has an extension which does not match the file format. Another malfunction appeared as I tried to cut a piece from an MPG file and save it as WMV. The program did cut it, but it saved it in MPG format. The same happened with other video formats.
A weird behavior of the codecs was detected during the program testing. The video codecs (DivX) kept loading and unloading from the system in a continuous and irritating manner. The program also froze a couple of times.

In conclusion: A very poor program. Very unstable. No good.
