| | MoveIt2 is a utility which can help automate the process of moving, copying, or deleting files from your computer or from a remote FTP host. The program can be used as a backup utility, but it also provides some useful features for keeping your files synchronized. The downside is that you won't be able to synchronize entire directory structures. MoveIt2 is specifically designed for copying, moving, or deleting files.
The main feature of this program is the fact that it works using several separate threads. Only 5 simultaneous threads are supported in the evaluation version, but this is enough to get an idea about the program's capabilities. Each thread can be configured to perform a different operation. For example, you can configure a thread to move files and another to delete other files.
A nice thing about this software is its FTP support. It's worth mentioning that you can rename the files during the copy/move process. You can also configure a mail server, which is to be used for sending files directly to your e-mail account. Upon completing an operation, the program can be configured to play a sound file from your computer.
Pluses: You can configure each thread to execute a certain application before or after the move/copy/delete operation. It's even possible to include the name of the file being processed into the parameters of the application which you want to start.
Drawbacks / flaws: The fact that the program displays the "thread is running, please wait" message when stopping a thread can become quite annoying. While this message is displayed, you can't use the program.
In conclusion: Generally speaking, this software is OK. It has quite a lot of options which you can configure. Their placement on the user interface is chosen well, although the program seems a bit spartan.
