 | | I don't suggest you read this review unless you want to know what this software can't do. Cafe Cop is supposed to be able to manage an Internet Cafe by providing a way to remotely control the computers on your network. Well, although it recognizes the computers on your network (with the client application installed), it doesn't allow you to control any of them.
The software package contains two applications. A server is supposed to allow you to view the list of connected computers, while at the same time it should offer you the possibility to control them. The client application should be installed on each of the other computers from your Internet Cafe network.
When first starting the server application, it displays a login screen. Of course, I was unable to login because I didn't know the default password. After reading the help files for about 10 to 15 minutes, I was still not sure what text to enter for logging in. Finally, I got a lucky break. I tried "administrator" as the username and it worked. After logging in, I tried to right click the list where the client computers show up, but nothing happened. I wasn't able to unlock any computer that had the client application installed.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: This software just won't work on my computer (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP SP2). Cafe Cop is freeware, so I don't know if the publisher is to blame for this poor software. I tried contacting them, but I got no reply.
In conclusion: If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time with this version.
