| | 'VirtueDesktops' is a free application that allows you to use multiple desktops on Mac OS X.
The application enables by default desktop names, such as Main, Mail, Desktop, and Code. It also allows you to customize every desktop with its own settings. You can organize your applications and modify their behavior depending on the chosen desktop.
The application's 'Preferences' panel gives you various options. You can change the way in which it behaves, you can change the appearance when switching the desktops, as well as changing the desktop template, layout, and pagers. It also allows you to add plugins to the program or modify your keyboard and mouse triggers, through which you can switch the desktops.
Switching the desktops is an eye-candy activity, because the application uses 2D/3D effects when it makes the transition from one desktop to another. This is one of the best parts of the software.
Pluses: it gives you the possibility to use multiple desktops on your Mac. It is a highly customizable application. It has really nice transition effects.
Drawbacks / flaws: this is a beta release so you might get unexpected behavior.
In conclusion: this application is useful to Macintosh users who are accustomed with heavy multitasking. It is also useful to the users who prefer to structure their work depending on the desktop that is used.
