 | | Magnesium: RSS 2.0 Ticker is nice gadget designed to help you be up to date with all the news in your areas of interest.
The program comes with a list of RSS feeds from various domains. You can import new RSS feeds at any time in order to update your library or you can export feeds (XML files). Importing a feed is a bit confusing though, since there's no 'Help' file available. You will need to save the original XML file onto your hard drive, then load the downloaded XML and paste its original location (URL) into the ticker.
Other than that, the program works like a charm. You can position it either on top or at the bottom of your desktop. Customization is a key aspect of this application: you can modify the feed updating time from 1 to 480 minutes, chenage the speed of the ticker, select your favorite fonts and colors. You can also set the transparency level and the text direction.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: The producer claims that you can even use it to create and edit RSS feeds, but you need to install an additional component in order to be able to create feeds. No 'Help' documentation.
In conclusion: In all, this program appears to be a fine solution for staying up to date with the latest news. Except for some configuration drawback, it's worth downloading and trying it.
