| | 'OtsDJ Pro' is a complex music player. It's designed for professional DJs, but it can also be used by people who want to play music at parties. I think that this program is a bit expensive considering its features. The biggest downside of this program is that it needs to convert the files it plays to a proprietary format (OTS).
The software contains two different applications. One is used for editing information, while the other is exclusively used for playing multimedia files. The editing application is called Ots Studio. It is used to convert multimedia files into OTS format. It supports batch conversion and you can use it to change the quality of the re-encoded OTS files. The publisher states that these files allow the program to use fewer resources, thus giving you better performance when mixing multimedia files. If you want to play video files, you need at least a Pentium 4 processor running at 2.8 GHz.
The user interface of the player application allows drag-and-drop operations within the program. However, it's not possible to drag-and-drop a multimedia file from Windows Explorer directly in the program. OtsDJ is designed to allow you to mix audio. It features pitch controls, automatic beat mixing, and intelligent fading. A special karaoke add-on is also available, allowing you to view song lyrics, when playing a song.
Pluses: The software features a scratch sampler. It allows you to spin a special virtual disc with your mouse just like a real DJ. Another feature worth mentioning is the Live Input Mixer. This mixer allows you to do simple processing of your voice in real-time. OtsDJ Pro has a built-in web server, which can be accessed from your network or even from the Internet. It allows you to control the music played from another computer just by typing a special URL into a browser.
Drawbacks / flaws: The biggest drawback is that it can only playback OTS files. Converting all your music into this format may take a long time, if you have many files. However, the program converts your music in the background, allowing you to continue to work with the mixer.
In conclusion: Finally, I would say that even though the program has many advanced features, its price is a bit high.
