| | This program is a simple tool for checking POP3 e-mail accounts. It checks the e-mail accounts that you define using its interface. The delay between checks can be configured by using a drop-down menu. You can only set predefined check intervals like every 5, 10, 20, or 60 seconds. It's impossible to enter a custom check interval.
I used the program's user interface to enter the details of an e-mail account. Smart Mail Checker doesn't provide a "test e-mail account settings" feature, so I had to wait and see whether my account details were entered correctly or not. Then, I added a notification rule to alert me, by playing a sound (WAV only), whenever I receive a certain e-mail. You can also define rules to filter e-mails received from certain senders or e-mails that have specific words in the subject of the e-mail.
It's not possible to check POP3 e-mail accounts that use a secure server connection (SSL), such as GMail. I didn't want this review to become just a list of drawbacks, but I can't help noticing that it has become one.

Drawbacks / flaws: I wouldn't pay $14.95 for a software that is this simple.
In conclusion: This program would be useful, if it worked properly. I'm looking forward to the next version.
