 | | FileWatcher is a small, but very clever system utility. As shown in the title, the program will monitor a folder and, of course, its recursive subfolders for any new files that's been added.
Setting up the program is easy: install it, run it and configure it as follows: select the folder to watch, select the number of seconds to wait after a new file arrive, select an EXE, BAT, COM file or a command line and set the number of seconds to wait before processing the selected command line. Once you have pushed the 'Start' button, the program will continuously monitor the selected folder and start a certain process after every new file is added. The program logs every operation and there is a chat log where you can post comments or ask questions, but, for some reason, I couldn't chat with anyone. Another flaw is that in the 'File' menu, when clicking on 'Send file', I got an error: 'Abstract error'.s Pluses: The program proved to be useful when used to monitor directories on FTP servers or incoming emails which need immediate processing.
Drawbacks / flaws: Unfortunately you cannot watch two separate directories and you cannot run simultaneously two or more instances of the program as it will crash.
In conclusion: A good application, but with a couple of flaws. I'm sure the next version will be improved.
